Rocky Mountain Dirt Riders Association is a not-for-profit organization which promotes responsible off-road motorcycle riding, organizes an annual off-road motorcycle race event, is very active in land advocacy and back country land access issues. 'RMDRA' has become one of the foremost associations of its type for people interested in off-road motorcycling, and also with provincial government agencies including Sustainable Resource Development and Community Development. One of the features of RMDRA is introducing new rides to trail riding and 'single track' riding (a type of trail riding). With respect to racing, there are various classes intended to reflect a rider's ability level. The very first class, a beginner's class if you will, is called the 'Sportsman' class. It is in relation to this idea of introducing someone to a new sport/activity that we at RMDRA chose to use the term 'SPORTSMAN RIDES' to describe these guided rides that are led by volunteers from our club. The Sportsman Rides is an integral component of our club, our mandate and our value statement. Accordingly we have ensured that the necessary insurance and other legal concerns are in place to protect the club, volunteers and participants in the event of an accident, etc. The one thing we have not yet done is to claim the 'brand' we have been building for several years - hence the request for the trade-mark.
