The Archaeology Roadshow helps communities engage with Indigenous history and archaeology. Our events are focused on boreal and the foothills regions of Alberta, which generally have less well-known archaeological records, and large indigenous communities. The objectives of the Archaeology Roadshow are to: 1. Increase the knowledge and understanding of the depth and scope of Alberta's history through archaeology and public engagement. 2. Promote awareness of archaeological sites and help people report and register archaeological finds and sites that they have encountered. 3. Make history and learning about the past fun! Our Archaeology Roadshows are individualized for the type of event and space available. We work with our partners to determine the appropriate format for the experience. The type of activities we are able to have at events are discussed below: 1. Reproductions of artifacts. 2. Presentations on Alberta archaeology 3. Ancient technology demonstrations 4. Identification of artifacts for local collectors. 5. Dig boxes and mock excavations.
