We offer unique land-based curriculum to both children in childcare and adults training to be Early Childhood Educators. We are trying to protect the name Creative Minds Centre for Early Childhood Education that is synonymous with "emergent curriculum" for children in the Early Learning Program as well as adults in the ECE Training Program. Emergent curriculum arises from an ability to listen. Listening to the children, the adults and the land helps us explore a wide range of curricular connections and deepen our understanding of the interconnections between and among us. Listening to "story" is central to curriculum development. Children tell stories, their families tell stories, the ECE teacher candidates tell stories, the forest in which our program is nestled tells stories. Oral and written traditions are incorporated into the curriculum and through listening the opportunity to interpret anew arises.
