Authentic Mongolian Yurts A yurt, or ger in Mongolia, is the traditional dwelling of Central Asian nomads. More than a tent, the yurt is the result of ancient savoir-faire and has been developed over hundreds of years. Made to resist extreme climates, this circular domed abode is warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Easily dismantled, the yurt is portable and self-supporting. We offer many sizes and accessories for our yurts; including, windows, platforms; and chimney modifications. The sizes we offer are; 2-Wall, 3-Wall, 3-Wall High, 4-Wall, 5-Wall, SUP GER (modified 5-Wall), 6-Wall, 7-Wall, 8-Wall, 10-Wall, and 12-Wall. This ingenious structure requires neither nail nor ground fastening. Its "walls" consist of crossed wooden strips in a lattice arrangement fixed together in a circle by braided horse hair. In the centre of the yurt is a dome (called toono), mounted on 2 (or 4) pillars. 81 rods, the huns, are introduced into the toono of a "5-wall" yurt thus creating the frame. The number of "walls" determines the size of the yurt, in other words the ground diameter. The yurt is covered by wool felt and a water resistant cotton canvas. Yurt Parts: (Included in the Yurt Package) - Outer Covers- The yurt walls and roof are covered with fabric & materials that come in ranges of durability options, all built to withstand harsh weather conditions. - Felts (Insulation) - The yurt comes with one complete layer of Mongolian felt insulation (sheep wool). - The Yurt Structure- The core structural components are all made of wood (Tamarack and Siberian Pine). These include the toono (central dome), the bagaans (central poles), the huns (roof rafters), door, and the lattice walls (khaanas). We additionally offer authentic, hand-painted Mongolian furniture and accessories for purchase. (optional)

Yurt Accomodations Our guests can experience a hand-made authentic Mongolian yurt for the night at our farm in Alexandria, Ontario. Available four seasons, we offer a glamping experience that can be reserved for two to four people (or more in some cases). With our Yurt accommodations, guests can enjoy; - One queen size and two single beds with bedding and towels. - A wood stove (wood provided) and electric heater for backup. - A mini fridge, microwave, electric kettle with complementary tea and coffee. - Drinking water - A composting toilet - Bathroom and shower available in the main building. - Candles and an outside fire pit. - A sauna - Board games (upon request) - Charcoal and propane BBQ (upon request.)
